Moore Colson Promotes Four Directors to Partner

Moore Colson, a nationally-recognized and award-winning CPA and advisory firm, recently announced the promotion of four directors to partner. The professionals receiving this promotion include Adam Bateman, Billy Boyd, Christopher D. Fagan and Jon Powell.
Bateman started his career with Moore Colson nearly 13 years ago. He has held several roles within the firm, advancing from associate to tax director in 2018 and to partner in 2019. Bateman’s professional background includes serving clients in the construction, real estate, transportation, private equity, manufacturing and financial services industries. He also has extensive experience in representation before the IRS and state tax authorities, mergers and acquisitions, and implementation of successful tax strategies for closely-held businesses. Bateman, CPA, has a Bachelor of Business Administration, Accounting and Finance, from Samford University and a Master of Taxation from Georgia State University. Bateman is currently a member of Samford University’s Accounting Advisory Board, is vice-chair of Samford’s Atlanta Alumni Board and is a council member of the Young Leadership Program at the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC Georgia). In addition, he is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Boyd joined the firm in 2005 as a business assurance associate and, after continuous promotions, began a director role in risk advisory & compliance services in 2018 and was promoted to partner in 2019. He primarily serves clients through internal audit outsourcing along with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) implementation and compliance. He also oversees Systems and Organizational Controls (SOC), audit and assurance engagements, in addition to working in the firm’s Transaction Services Practice. Boyd has experience in multiple industries including convenience store, distribution, manufacturing, retail, private equity, service and construction. Boyd, CPA, has a Bachelor of Business Administration, Accountancy, from the University of Georgia and a Master of Professional Accountancy from Georgia State University. Boyd is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Institute of Internal Auditors.
Fagan joined Moore Colson in 2013 as a senior manager with experience working with clients in a variety of industries, including manufacturing, distribution, healthcare, retail, food processing, directional drilling, and logistics and transportation. He works on advisory projects focused on inventory valuation and controls, consulting, assurance and transaction services, serving as an advisor to private equity funds, investors, mezzanine and subordinate lenders. He was promoted to a director role in 2018 and began his new role as partner in 2019. Fagan, CPA, has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Tennessee and a Master of Accountancy from Belmont University. Fagan is a member of the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the New York State Board for Public Accountancy, the Georgia Automotive Manufacturers Association and the Georgia Manufacturing Alliance.
Powell started his career with Moore Colson 13 years ago. He has held several roles within the firm, advancing with successive promotions from associate to a risk advisory & compliance services director role in 2018 and to a partner role in 2019. Powell’s professional background includes serving clients in the manufacturing, distribution, retail, service and healthcare industries. He has extensive experience performing audit and assurance engagements while leading numerous initiatives such as internal audit co-sourcing partnerships, SOC audits, SOX and other compliance engagements. He also manages many of Moore Colson’s large IT and consulting engagements. Powell, CPA, is also a Certified Information Technology Professional (CITP), a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration, Accountancy, and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Georgia. Powell is a member of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association where he assists with academic relations, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants where he is a member of the IT Advisory Council. Powell currently sits on the University of Georgia’s Terry College MIS Advisory Board, attends Terry Third Thursday, and has participated in TerryConnect to help mentor Terry College students.
