As the managing partner here at Moore Colson, I would really encourage our employees to reach out and volunteer in the community where they work and live.

We’re called to be good stewards of the benefits and blessings we’ve received, and one way to do that is to reach back out and help those who may be in need. And we’ve been able to partner with some great organizations, Eagle Ranch, MUST Ministries, Atlanta Food Bank. We’ve been able to partner up with people who really do great work in that space.

I think what’s good for our firm, in addition to trying to be good stewards of what we’ve been blessed with, is we do everything together. We do everything as a corporate model, and we can move en masse and go help an organization and work together to accomplish something. But it’s fun to work through something and really make some results happen.

For any employee or just anyone in general who’s hesitant or has some anxiety about volunteering for one of these community service projects, go try it one time. Just one time. I promise you’ll get so much more out of it than you put into it. You will not have a problem volunteering again.

Service is a core value here and we value it to the point that we take time out multiple times a year, all in firm time, during work hours to send people out in the community and serve.

About a year or two ago, we went to Solomon’s Temple, that’s a local charity where one of our partners, Chris Fagan, is on the board, and they’ve got a shelter for women and children. Where they have that shelter was an old school that was completely overgrown in the back and it had nowhere for these kids to go and play. It was a jungle and in one day we were really able to transform that into somewhere that they could play. The playground was cleaned up, the brush was gone. One day made a lifetime of difference for that organization.

As we go forward, we want community service to really still be a part of what we do and who we are. We wanna see what our employees care about and what they want to do, and we’re gonna follow that path and find ways to help this community around us.
