So, for Moore Colson to be an independent firm, to me, that really means we have our partner group, we own the firm, and we make the decisions of the firm. Whenever we’re deciding to make changes or evolving just with what’s going on right now with technology and other things, we’re able to do that with the group that’s here in this office.

I grew up in a small town. I went to a smaller college, so coming to a firm where I knew everyone in the firm was something that was meaningful to me. I love that I know all the people that I work with, the relationships that I’ve had with my clients. I’ve worked with some of the same clients for the 20 years that I’ve been with Moore Colson. So being able to form relationships with clients and then also see the growth of their businesses, see the generations coming on that are taking on new roles within the business.

Clients are looking to us for experience and expertise, and being a business owner, we’ve sat in the same seat that they sit in. We’ve dealt with the same issues, and we’ve had to come up with solutions quite often that would help them as well. We’re there as a partner with clients. So staying independent, I think, has allowed us to maintain our culture over the years in a couple of ways. The first is we’re able to be flexible with employees. We’re able to work with them no matter which stage of life they’re in and meet their needs where they are. It also allows us to do some things that are more fun and more service-oriented.
