Moore Colson Announces New Managing Partner, New Vice Chair and Executive Leadership Changes

January 10, 2023

Atlanta, Georgia

Moore Colson, an award-winning accounting, consulting and advisory firm in Atlanta, recently named Partner Andy Starnes as the firm’s new managing partner and Partner Chris Arnone as vice chair. The firm also announced additional executive leadership changes, including Partner Adam Bateman as tax practice leader, Partner Billy Boyd as risk advisory and compliance services practice leader, Partner Christopher D. Fagan as transaction services practice area leader and Partner Candace Jackson as business assurance practice leader.

Starnes takes over the firm’s leadership from Bert Mills, who has held the role since 2014. Mills will remain a partner in the firm, continuing to serve clients and advise the partner group. Starnes joined Moore Colson in 2000 and has held several leadership roles throughout his 23 years at the firm. In 2014, Starnes became the firm’s tax practice leader, and in 2010, he also became the firm’s construction practice leader.

“Throughout his years at the firm, Andy has shown that he has the vision and dedication to take Moore Colson into the future,” Mills said. “He has a deep desire to serve clients at the highest level and the leadership skills to build a team that can do that. I am fully confident in the firm’s direction with Andy at the helm.”

“I am excited to continue building our slate of innovative solutions that help our clients and their businesses grow,” Starnes noted. “I look forward to continuing Bert’s legacy of positioning Moore Colson as the most forward-thinking firm in the Southeast.”

Working alongside Starnes to help lead the firm is Arnone as the new vice chair. Arnone joined Moore Colson in 2005 and was the firm’s business assurance practice leader before being named vice chair. One of their main objectives as the new leaders of the firm is to build out the Moore Colson team further and develop the next generation of accountants and advisors. Through targeted training, development, coaching and mentoring programs, and a focus on high-level recruiting, their goal is to ensure clients have access to the most talented and effective professionals and, by extension, the best client service possible. Starnes and Arnone will also focus on implementing new technological solutions throughout all corners of the firm to ensure efficient and streamlined processes internally, allowing team members the time to focus on more strategic endeavors for their clients.

“At Moore Colson, we truly believe that our people are our most valuable resource,” Arnone said. “Without our talented and dedicated team members, we would not be able to provide the knowledge and value to our clients that allows them and their businesses to succeed. Our team is the backbone of everything that we do.”

Moore Colson’s managing partner and vice chair work together with the firm’s practice leaders to continually develop strategic services that align with the firm’s consultative mindset. Several new practice leaders will also be stepping up to bring new insights and perspectives to their teams. Bateman, who joined the firm in 2006, will lead the tax practice, focusing on strategic tax planning services for closely held businesses and their owners. Boyd, who has been with Moore Colson since 2005 and previously led the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) practice area, will be leading the risk advisory and compliance services practice. Fagan, who joined Moore Colson in 2013 and leads the manufacturing and distribution practice, will now also lead the transaction services practice area. Jackson, who has been with the firm since 2007 and previously led the employee benefit plan practice area, will now also lead the business assurance practice.

“The Moore Colson leadership team sets the tone for the entire firm,” noted Starnes. “Each new practice leader brings a unique sense of drive and innovation to their respective areas. We couldn’t be in a better place to take our next steps as a firm of the future.”
