Atlanta, Georgia (March 5, 2013) – Atlanta-based accounting Firm, Moore Colson recently announced the hiring of Michael K. Hammond, CPA, CITP as the Firm’s Director of Risk Advisory & Compliance Services in the Business Assurance Practice, a newly created role.
Michael has over 25 years of experience serving Fortune 500 companies, middle market public and private companies, state and local governmental entities and not-for-profit. Michael serves as an advisor to clients in the areas of financial, operational, information technology and performance audit service delivery, process improvement, risk management, and controls evaluation. He is responsible for the firm’s SSAE 16, Sarbanes-Oxley and internal audit sourcing services, and works within the firm’s IT audit and consulting group.
Prior to joining Moore Colson, Michael was an audit partner with Reznick Group, P.C. in Atlanta, from 2007 to 2012. At Reznick, he was the Atlanta Risk and Advisory Services Practice Leader and responsible for overall leadership and growth of the practice including internal audit sourcing, information technology (IT) audits, Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 compliance and other risk advisory services. Michael was also the Partner in-charge of all SSAE 16 engagements for the Firm.
Prior to working for Reznick, Michael was Director of Advisory Services for PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, in Atlanta and Orlando. He led one of the largest internal audit co-sourcing engagements, coordinating up to 40 professionals (including international resources) on a Fortune 250 transportation company with over $7 billion in annual revenue.
He also worked for KPMG LLP, Orlando, Florida from 1995 to 2003 as the Director of Risk and Advisory Services, Rachlin, Cohen & Holtz, Miami, Florida as an Audit Manager from 1993 to 1995, and Watson Rice Hadnott Thompkins & Cruz, Miami, Florida 1992 to 1993 as an Audit Partner.
Michael has a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from the University of South Florida, Tampa, Florida and is a Certified Public Accountant in both Georgia and Florida. Michael is also a Certified Information Technology Professional (CITP).
A member of the National Association of Black Accountants, Michael was Past President of the Greater Miami Chapter; and a Past National Convention Co-Chair. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Georgia Society of CPAs and Institute of Internal Auditors.
