Moore Colson Named Large Firm Winner for the Seventh Consecutive Year in the Georgia Accounting Food Fight
Atlanta, Georgia
Moore Colson, an award-winning accounting, consulting and advisory firm in Atlanta, recently announced it won the Large Firms category in the eighth annual Georgia Accounting Food Fight. The two-week competition, organized by The Georgia Society of CPAs (GSCPA) and the Georgia Food Bank Association (GFBA), brings together accounting professionals from across Georgia with the goal of raising funds for the state’s nine regional food banks. According to GSCPA and GFBA, the Georgia Accounting Food Fight has raised a record-breaking $346,288 and the equivalent to 1,385,155 meals for the Food Bank in 2021, representing a 21 percent increase over last year’s results. Since the first Food Fight in 2014, accounting professionals have collectively raised $1,439,095 and the equivalent of 5,797,463 meals.
According to the Atlanta Community Food Bank (ACFB), competitors included teams from over 66 accounting firms and industry accounting departments representing over 7,747 members of the industry. During the friendly two-week competition, accounting professionals statewide competed to earn points by raising funds for the GFBA. The Food Fight also continued its focus on helping the food banks respond to an increased number of Georgians seeking food assistance due to the effects of the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. Awards were presented to accounting professionals in several categories, including Big Four, Large Firm, Medium Firm, Small Firm, Industry, Food Fight Hero and Grand Prize Hunger Champion.
Moore Colson raised $38,054, the equivalent of 152,216 meals for ACFB, ranking Moore Colson number one in Georgia in the Large Firms category for Total Points. This is the firm’s seventh consecutive win in the Large Firms category.
“As Moore Colson celebrates our 40th anniversary this year with our ’Thinking Forward, Giving Back’ campaign, we can’t think of a better way to honor our community than working together to address food insecurity, which is amplified as a result of the continuing pandemic. The response by accountants across Georgia and here in metro Atlanta to help those in need is awe-inspiring,” noted Todd McMullen, Moore Colson partner and Atlanta Community Food Bank board member. “Since the first Food Fight, our team has been an industry leader in supporting the cause of the Atlanta Community Food Bank. The recognition as a 2021 Large Firm winner is a tribute to our team members’ generosity.”
