Atlanta-based accounting firm, Moore Colson, recently announced the promotions of nine firm professionals: Billy Boyd – (Senior Manager, Business Assurance), Steven Bailey – (Senior Manager, Business Assurance), Ashlie Shepard – (Manager, Business Assurance), Dillon Barnhart – (Senior Associate, Business Assurance), Jimmy Hawbaker – (Senior Associate, Business Assurance), Jenna Kelley – (Senior Associate, Business Assurance), Mollie Purohit – (Senior Associate, Business Assurance), and Chandler Amerson – (Senior Associate, Tax).
Moore Colson, founded in 1981, is a full-service accounting and consulting firm located in Atlanta, Georgia providing tax, assurance, management consulting, estate and financial planning, lender advisory services, IT audit consulting services, and corporate accounting services.
Billy Boyd – (Senior Manager, Business Assurance): Billy Boyd, CPA was promoted to Senior Manager in the firm’s Business Assurance Practice. Billy joined Moore Colson in 2005 and has experience in multiple industries including construction, distribution, manufacturing, retail, service and private equity. Along with performing audit and assurance engagements for the noted industries, he also serves several public companies through internal audit outsourcing and with Sarbanes-Oxley implementation and compliance. Billy is also involved in the firm’s transaction advisory services, where he performs buy side due diligence, and the Moore Colson mentoring program for the past three years. Billy will continue to be an integral part of the career growth of new employees by assisting with the training for new hires in the firm’s Business Assurance Practice.
Prior to joining Moore Colson in 2005 as an Associate, he performed two summer internships for Smith Barney. In 2006, Billy was promoted to Business Assurance Senior Associate and was awarded Moore Colson’s Peak Award in 2009. In 2011, Billy was selected and participated in the six week international exchange program that Moore Colson offers with a PrimeGlobal affiliate firm in Manchester, England.
Billy received a Masters of Professional Accountancy in 2004 from Georgia State University and a Bachelor of Business Administration-Accountancy from The University of Georgia in 2003. Billy is a member of The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, The Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants, and Institute of Internal Auditors.
Steven Bailey – (Senior Manager, Business Assurance): Steven Bailey, CPA, CFE was promoted to Senior Manager in Moore Colson’s Business Assurance Practice. With over 8 years of experience, Steven leads audit and assurance engagements primarily within the manufacturing, distribution, construction, transportation, software, technology, and healthcare industries. Steven is a Certified Fraud Examiner and provides financial analysis and fraud consulting services to clients in need of his skills. Steven also provides internal control consulting services within the internal audit outsource practice area and performs and reviews corporate Sarbanes-Oxley compliance audits. Steven has also been involved in providing transaction advisory services by performing buy and sell side due diligence associated with mergers and acquisitions.
Prior to joining Moore Colson, Steven was a Senior Audit Associate with Habif, Arogeti Wynne, LLP, formerly Tauber Balser, P.C., Atlanta, Georgia, where he served as an in-charge and managed various audit and other attestation engagements for public and private clients. Steven is a graduate of AuburnUniversity at Montgomery, Montgomery, Alabama, with an M.B.A. (emphasis in accounting) in 2006, and a B.S. in Accounting, 2005. Steven is a member of AICPA, the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. Steven was the recipient of the Alabama Society of CPA’s Accounting Achievement Award in 2005. Steven is also a past recipient of the firm’s coveted Peak Award.
Ashlie Shepard – (Manager, Business Assurance): Ashlie Shepard, CPA was promoted to Business Assurance Manager. Ashlie joined Moore Colson as a Business Assurance Associate in 2008, and is a graduate of East Carolina University, with a BS and MS combined degree in Accounting. At Moore Colson, Ashlie leads audit and assurance engagements serving clients within the manufacturing, distribution, technology, staffing and service industries. Ashlie also performs audit and compliance services for insurance trusts and master pension and profit sharing trusts. Ashlie provides outsourced Sarbanes-Oxley IT and financial compliance services, outsourced Service Organization Controls (SOC) services and reporting on internal controls as well as lending advisory services. Ashlie is a past recipient of the firm’s coveted Peak Award.
Dillon Barnhart – (Senior Associate, Business Assurance): Dillon Barnhart, CPA was promoted to Business Assurance Senior Associate. He joined Moore Colson as a Business Assurance Associate, and holds a Bachelor of Science-Business and Information Technology (Accounting) from Macon State College, Macon, Georgia. Dillon provides assurance services for financial statement audits, IT internal audit outsourcing under Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, and SSAE 16/SOC1 reporting. Dillon is currently pursuing a CISA certification to better serve the information technology audit consulting practice. Prior to coming to Moore Colson, Dillon worked with the Georgia Department of Revenue as a Sales Tax, Use Tax and Compliance Auditor. While with the Georgia Department of Revenue, he assisted in research and interpretation of part of the new Streamlined Sales Tax regulations, enforced compliance and assisted with interpretation of changing tax regulations. Dillon is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the Information Systems Audit and Control Association.
Jimmy Hawbaker – (Senior Associate, Business Assurance): Jimmy Hawbaker, CPA was also promoted to Business Assurance Senior Associate. He previously worked as a Sales Tax, Use Tax and Compliance Auditor with the Georgia Department of Revenue where he self-governed all aspects of various audits and collaborated with several auditors on many engagements. He also participated in special project engagements for Commissioner Graham, and Assisted with, and researched the interpretation of changing tax regulations, and enforce compliance. He was elected and served as Vice President of Membership for Toastmasters International – an organization dedicated to improving leadership skills. Jimmy also worked with Liberty Tax Service, Lithia Springs and was an Accountant I, with Just Duke It Construction, Lithia Springs. Jimmy is a graduate of Kennesaw State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting, July 2008.
Jenna Kelley – (Senior Associate, Business Assurance): Jenna is a graduate of Auburn University with a BS in Business Administration and worked as an intern with Moore Colson during the 2011 busy season. Jenna joined Moore Colson as a Business Assurance Associate and was recently promoted to Senior Associate in the Business Assurance Practice. Prior to graduation, Jenna served as a fixed asset intern with Vulcan Materials Company in Birmingham, Alabama, 2010. Jenna also worked with Judith March L.L.C., Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, as a Bookkeeper. While attending Auburn University, Jenna was a member of Beta Alpha Psi, recipient of the James S. Towle Sr. Scholarship, and a member of the Dean’s List.
Mollie Purohit – (Senior Associate, Business Assurance): Mollie is a graduate of Auburn University, Auburn, Alabama, with a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration (Accountancy and Finance) and was recently promoted to Business Assurance Senior Associate. Prior to joining Moore Colson as a Business Assurance Associate, Mollie served as an intern with Faucett, Taylor, and Associates, LLP, Atlanta, Georgia. While working with Faucett, Taylor, and Associates, she assisted in auditing real estate ventures and home owners’ Associations, worked through all stages of the audit and review including drafting financial statements, and interacted with clients during on-site audits. Mollie is a member of Beta Alpha Psi, Circle K Senior Board Member, SaveFirst Initiative, National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and the Auburn Water Polo Club.
Chandler Amerson – (Senior Associate, Tax): Chandler Amerson, CPA was promoted to Senior Tax Associate. He joined Moore Colson as a Tax Associate after serving a 2012 Spring internship with the firm. At Moore Colson, Chandler is responsible for servicing firm clients across all industries. In addition to preparation of federal and multi-state tax returns, he assists corporate, partnership, fiduciary, and individual clients with a wide array of tax planning strategies.
Chandler is a graduate of Mercer University, Stetson School of Business and Economics with a Master of Accountancy, May 2012. He currently holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Real Estate from The University of Georgia, Terry College of Business. Most recently, Chandler worked with The Erosion Company, Woodstock, Georgia as a Sales Associate, and also served as a Student Assistant with the University of Georgia Athletic Association. He is a member of the Georgia Society of CPAs, where he worked as a volunteer at the Southeastern Accounting Show, and a team member for the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life. He is also a member of the American Institute of CPAs.
