Atlanta-based accounting firm, Moore Colson, recently announced the hiring of Jared Miller – Business Assurance Associate, Kelly Hopkins – Business Assurance Associate, and Samantha Scott – Tax Associate. Moore Colson, founded in 1981, is a full-service accounting and consulting firm located in Atlanta, Georgia providing tax, assurance, management consulting, estate and financial planning, lender advisory services, IT audit consulting services, and corporate accounting services.
Jared Miller, a new Moore Colson Business Assurance Associate, recently graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Accountancy. While attending Auburn, Jared worked as a Student Auditor Assistant in Auburn’s Department of Internal Auditing, Auburn, Alabama where he maintain a 20 hour per week work schedule as a full-time student, proofread and edited the Executive Director’s quarterly and annual reports to the Board of Trustees, assisted auditors by performing basic audit test work, and reviewed auditors’ recommendation reports to ensure accuracy before release to administration.
Jared is a recipient of the Edward L. Spencer Endowed Scholarship 2011 – 2012, the Auburn University Board of Trustees Scholarship 2008 – 2012, the Auburn University Football Lettermen Club Scholarship 2010 – 2011, Dean’s List Fall 2009 and Fall 2011, the Auburn University Spirit Foundation Scholarship 2008 – 2011, and the Dr. C Lloyd and Sandra Nix Scholarship 2008 – 2010. Jared was also a student affiliate member of AICPA, and the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants, a member of the First Baptist Church Opelika
College Ministry, and the Auburn University Men’s Chorus, Symphonic Band, Jazz Band and the Marching Band
Kelly Hopkins also joins the firm as a Business Assurance Associate. Kelly interned with Moore Colson in the Spring of 2012 and has recently received a Masters of Business Administration degree at Kennesaw State University. Kelly is also a graduate of The University of Georgia, Terry College of Business with a Bachelor of Business Administration, Accounting, and attended the University of Mississippi School of Business Administration, Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College, for two years.
Prior to joining Moore Colson as an intern in 2012, Kelly was a Sales Leader with Private Gallery in Athens, Georgia, and also worked as an intern with the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia and the Georgia Society of Association Executives in Atlanta. She was nominated for Regional Employee of the Year for Private Gallery, and was a member of Phi Mu Sorority where she was Head Points Chairman and a member of the Rush Committee, The University of Mississippi Parade of Beauties, and an intramural soccer player. She volunteered with UGAHEROs, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Hold ‘Em for the Kids – benefitting Children’s Miracle Network, Atlanta Community Food Bank, Atlanta Day Shelter for Women and Children, and Ronald McDonald House.
Samantha Scott was recently hired a Tax Associate, and is currently enrolled at the University of West Georgia in Carrolton where she is pursuing a Masters in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting. Samantha worked for Stokes Wagner, LLC, Atlanta, Georgia from May 2009 – May 2013 as a Law Clerk where she developed and organized material for public speaking conventions by providing support for successful business events, assisted in hospitality industry cases by preparing and retrieving investigative research, briefs for employment litigation, and by organizing case files for successful litigation by the firm. Samantha also served as a tax intern with Pettigrew & Pettigrew CPAs, Milledgeville, Georgia from January – April 2012.
Samantha is a graduate of Georgia College & State University, Milledgeville with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting, 2012 and a recipient of the HOPE Scholarship for all 4 years, and self financed her college education. She was also a member of Delta Sigma Pi, Alpha Delta Pi, and a Ronald McDonald House Volunteer.
