Atlanta CPA Firm Moore Colson Announces Staff Promotions

Atlanta, Georgia (February, 2014) – Atlanta-based accounting firm, Moore Colson, recently announced the promotions of five firm professionals. Adam Bateman was promoted to Senior Manager, in the Tax Practice. Jon Powell was promoted to Senior Manager, Risk Advisory & Compliance Services in the Business Assurance Practice. Marissa Nash was promoted to Manager in the Tax Practice. Christina Quinones was promoted to Manager in the Tax Practice, and Sydney Trew was also promoted to Manager in the Tax Practice.
Adam Bateman, CPA – Senior Manager Tax Services: Adam’s primary focus in his new role is with tax compliance and planning services for closely-held businesses and their owners. His responsibilities at Moore Colson include the coordination of tax services for clients, planning and organizing engagements, managing the progress of work, suggesting and implementing tax planning ideas, and supervising staff.
Upon completion of a double major in accounting and finance from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, Adam received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in May, 2006. In June 2006, Adam was hired as a Tax Associate at Moore Colson, and was promoted to Tax Senior Associate in 2007. Adam was promoted to Tax Manager in 2010 and
received a Masters of Taxation from Georgia State University in 2011. Prior to joining Moore Colson, Adam worked for Merrill Lynch, Birmingham, Alabama and Paducah Bank & Trust, Paducah, Kentucky.
Adam is an active member of The Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants, The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Everybody Wins Atlanta, PrimeGlobal, and a two-time recipient of Moore Colson’s coveted Peak Award. In 2011, Adam was named as a distinguished member of the Samford University Brock School of Business Accounting Advisory Board.
Jon Powell, CPA, CITP, CISA – Senior Manager, Risk Advisory & Compliance Services: As a Senior Manager with Moore Colson, Jon leads and performs Sarbanes Oxley, SSAE 16 (formally SAS 70) Service Organization audits and other compliance engagements. Jon also performs in charge responsibilities on the firm’s large IT and financial audit engagements and also leads Moore Colson’s data analytics initiatives by utilizing tools such as IDEA, ACL and Monarch.
Jon received a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science in 2002 and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting in 2005 from The University of Georgia, and joined Moore Colson in 2006 as an Associate. Prior to coming to Moore Colson, Jon served as an intern with Deloitte and Touche, LLP Atlanta, Georgia, and as the financial officer of a family owned business for two years.
In addition to Jon’s CPA designation, He is also a Certified Information Technology Professional (CITP) and Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA). Jon is a member of The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, The Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants, Information Systems Audit and Control Association and PrimeGlobal. Jon, also a recipient of the firm’s Peak Award.
Sydney Trew, CPA – Tax Manager: Sydney joined Moore Colson in 2010 as a Tax Associate after serving an internship with the firm in 2009. She was promoted to Tax Senior Associate in 2012. As a Tax Manager, Sydney coordinates tax services for clients, plans and organizes engagements, supervises staff, and implements tax planning ideas for closely-held businesses, and construction and real estate clients. Sydney is a graduate of Samford University, Birmingham, Alabama with a Masters degree in Accounting and a B.S. in Accounting with a concentration in International Business. While attending Samford University, Sydney was a member of the Dean’s List, Beta Gamma Sigma National Honor Society, Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society, Alpha Lambda Delta National Honor Fraternity, Phi Mu Fraternity, and a recipient of the Phi Mu National Scholarship. Sydney is a member of PrimeGlobal, and was a 2012 winner of the firm’s coveted Peak Award.
Marissa Nash, CPA – Tax Manager: Formerly a Tax intern with Moore Colson during the summer of 2008, Marissa was hired as a Tax Associate in 2009 and promoted to Tax Senior Associate in 2012. In her new role as a Tax Manager, Marissa is responsible for supervising staff, and planning and organizing client engagements, primarily in the healthcare industry. She is a graduate of Georgia State University, Atlanta, Georgia with a Masters of Taxation and also a graduate of the University of Georgia, Athens, Georgia with a BBA in Accounting. While attending the University of Georgia, Marissa was a HOPE Scholarship recipient, member of the Dean’s List, and the University’s Honors program. Marissa is a member of the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants, The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and PrimeGlobal.
Christina Quinones, CPA – Tax Manager: Christina worked as a tax intern with Moore Colson prior to being hired as an Associate in the Tax Services Practices in 2009. In 2011 Christina was promoted to a Tax Senior Associate. In her role as a Tax Manager, Christina’s new responsibilities include planning and organizing engagements, and supervising staff. Her focus is within the Real Estate industry. Christina is a graduate of the University of Alabama with a Master of Tax Accounting, 2009, and a B.S. in Business Administration. While attending the University of Alabama, Christina worked as an Accounting Assistant at the Ferguson Student Union. She was named Outstanding Minority Undergraduate in 2006, Business Honors Program 2006 – 2007, Women’s Honors Program 2004 – 2005, Presidential Scholarship, National Hispanic Scholar and Scholastic Silver Key Art Award. Christina is also a member of PrimeGlobal.
