Atlanta, Georgia (January, 2014) – Atlanta based accounting firm, Moore Colson CPAs recently announced the admission of Brian D. Renshaw, CPA, as a Partner in the firm’s Business Assurance Practice, and Shawn W. Hardister, CPA, CFP® and Mike Pompilio, CPA, as Partners in the firm’s Tax Services Practice. Brian D. Renshaw, Business Assurance Partner – Brian joined Moore Colson in 2007 after working at KPMG, LLP as a Senior Manager, where he spent the majority of his 12-year career in their New Orleans office. During his career at KPMG, Brian prepared financial statement audits for a number of publicly traded entities and has significant experience in SEC public filings and reporting matters.

Since joining Moore Colson, Brian has been instrumental in the growth and development of the restaurant and hospitality niches in the Real Estate Practice. In this leadership role, Brian is responsible for providing audit and advisory services to the restaurant and hospitality industries as well as to clients who construct, develop, own, lease, syndicate, advise, and manage all types of real estate assets. Brian is also responsible for overseeing financial statement audits, monitoring the progress of the work, and supervising managers and staff members.

Brian has a Bachelor of Science in both Accounting and Business from Centenary College and a Master’s of Business Administration from Louisiana State University. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants, Louisiana Society of Certified Public Accountants, Georgia Restaurant Association, and Treasurer and Board Member of LSU Atlanta.

Shawn W. Hardister, Tax Partner – Prior to joining Moore Colson in 2013, Shawn was an owner and partner of Brooks, McGinnis & Company, LLC, CPAs in Atlanta, Georgia where he managed numerous tax and audit client relationships, expanded the firm’s client base in the nonprofit audit and closely-held company tax niches, and advised clients on accounting, profitability improvement and tax planning and compliance matters. Shawn also taught continuing education classes for the Georgia Society of CPAs and the Georgia Center for Nonprofits. Shawn’s prior experience includes ten years in healthcare (physician practice management) in CFO and mergers & acquisitions roles. He began his career with the Raleigh, North Carolina office of Price Waterhouse (now PricewaterhouseCoopers).

At Moore Colson, Shawn is the lead tax services partner for our closely held service business clients, and provides financial and tax planning for high net worth individuals. He also brings considerable expertise to the firm in the areas of serving individuals, C and S-corporations, partnerships, LLCs, trusts and foundations.

Shawn attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and graduated with a B.S. Business Administration, concentration in Accounting, with Honors. He is a Certified Public Accountant in North Carolina and Georgia, and is also a Certified Financial Planner. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants. He has served on numerous not-for-profit boards of directors, and currently serves as a Director and Treasurer of the Atlanta Track Club, and a Director and Treasurer of the National Down Syndrome Congress. Shawn is a member of Dunwoody United Methodist Church, and the Rotary Club of Dunwoody.

Mike Pompilio, Tax Partner – Prior to joining Moore Colson in 2013, Mike was a Senior Tax Manager with Cherry Bekaert, LLP. He began his career as an intern in the Atlanta office of PricewaterhouseCoopers and was promoted to Tax Senior prior to leaving. Mike also spent several years at Bennett Thrasher.

At Moore Colson, Mike focuses on providing tax strategies while ensuring compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations. He is also responsible for the coordination of tax services for his clients, maintaining and enhancing client relationships, and the development and supervision of the firm’s professional tax staff.

Mike’s broad public accounting experience enables him to provide comprehensive tax consulting services to an array of middle market and closely held businesses. He has focused primarily on clientele in the technology, real estate, and manufacturing industries, and he has a strong background in corporate and partnership taxation. Mike’s professional background, coupled with his strong interpersonal and team oriented skills, complement Moore Colson’s already robust and diverse tax team.

Mike is a graduate of Georgia State University with a Master of Taxation, 2003, and Oglethorpe University with a B.S. Accounting, 1999. He is a member of the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Mike is a member of Northside United Methodist Church, and the NextWave Society
