Moore Colson Cohosts Industrial Leadership Council Event on Cybersecurity Featuring Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Steve Foster

January 28, 2020

Moore Colson, an award-winning accounting, consulting, and advisory firm in Atlanta, co-hosted an event alongside Berman Fink Van Horn (BFV), SunTrust and Palmer & Cay on the topic of cybersecurity on Friday, January 17, 2020, at BFV’s Buckhead office.

The event, Cybercrime in Georgia: How cybercriminals are actively targeting Georgia’s business community, discussed cybercrime’s impact on Georgia’s business community and methods used by criminals to perpetrate fraud. The discussion was led by Steve Foster, Special Agent in Charge (SAC) of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s (GBI) Georgia Cyber Crime Center (G3C) in Augusta, Georgia. SAC Foster supervises a staff of 11 who fulfill the GBI’s mission to conduct cybercrime investigations and digital device forensic examinations and to provide cybercrime-related training to state and local law enforcement. SAC Foster helped develop G3C and currently oversees the ongoing growth of the unit. SAC Foster is in his 25th year with the GBI and has 31 years in law enforcement. During the presentation, he also discussed the challenges of law enforcement in finding and prosecuting cybercriminals and how businesses should be vigilant about educating employees and monitoring for cybercriminal activity.

Industrial Leadership Council (ILC) is an Atlanta-based not-for-profit organization founded in 2018 to educate Atlanta’s current and future industrial leaders. In this joint venture, founding partners Moore Colson CPAs and Advisors, SunTrust, Palmer & Cay and Berman Fink Van Horn, provide an exclusive forum for executives to learn from industry leaders and to share insights as well as best practices impacting the industrial community.

“We are thrilled to provide a forum for executives to come together and learn from industry experts and one another,” noted Christopher D. Fagan, partner at Moore Colson CPAs and Advisors. “We are grateful to SAC Foster for sharing his insights and advice with the group today and look forward to welcoming our guests back at our next event.”

ILC’s inaugural event, Industrial Economic Outlook: 4 Key Issues That Will Impact The C-Suite In 2020, took place on September 13, 2019. The event featured SunTrust Economist Mike Skordeles, who discussed whether a recession was near, the trade war’s impact on industrials and much more. ILC’s next event will take place in June 2020 and will be on the topic of mitigating healthcare costs for mid-market businesses. Events are by invitation only.
