Moore Colson, an award-winning accounting, consulting and advisory firm in Atlanta, has been recognized by Construction Executive (CE) as one of the 2021 Top 50 Construction Accounting Firms™.
Now in its 19th year of publication, CE is the leading trade magazine about the business of construction. In its July/August 2021 issue, CE published a comprehensive ranking of The Top 50 Construction Accounting Firms™ after asking hundreds of US accounting firms with a construction practice to complete a survey. Data collected included: 1) 2020 revenues from the firm’s construction practice; 2) number of CPAs in the firm’s construction practice; 3) percentage of firm’s total revenues derived from its construction practice; 4) number of states in which the firm is licensed to practice; 5) year in which the construction practice was established; and 6) the number of AEC clients served during fiscal year 2020. The ranking was determined by an algorithm that weighted these factors in descending order of importance. Moore Colson ranked 45th among the Top 50 Construction Accounting Firms in the United States and as the top-ranking Atlanta-headquartered firm.
Moore Colson, founded in 1981, established its construction practice in 1998. Headquartered in Atlanta, the firm is one of America’s largest and top award-winning firms delivering innovative and practical solutions in a true partnership model. Moore Colson’s construction practice is made up of 31 CPAs, including seven partners, serving more than 90 construction companies ranging from general and specialty construction contractors to home builders and manufacturers. Its leaders understand the construction industry and recognize it is characterized by variable profit margins, cash flow management, job fade, labor shortages, bonding requirements and job-cost overruns – all of which can have a material impact on the bottom line. The firm’s construction practice looks at the big picture to help construction businesses analyze all of their options – providing practical, cost-effective, proactive solutions to make contracting businesses more manageable and profitable.
“We are honored to be recognized for the third year in a row by Construction Executive for our work in the construction industry,” said Andy Starnes, Moore Colson partner and construction practice leader. “As we celebrate our firm’s 40th anniversary this year, we continue to attribute our success to adding value for our construction clients wherever possible by providing a comprehensive view of the surrounding business environment, challenges and opportunities.”
