Atlanta CPA Firm Moore Colson Hires 5 Professional Staff and 8 Spring Interns
Atlanta, Georgia (February, 2014) – Atlanta-based accounting firm, Moore Colson, recently announced the hiring of five full-time professionals and a record eight spring interns. Moore Colson, founded in 1981, is a full-service accounting and consulting firm located in Atlanta, Georgia providing tax, assurance, management consulting, estate and financial planning, lender advisory services, IT audit consulting services, and corporate accounting services.
Full-time Employees:
Jake Patton joins the firm as a Tax Associate. Prior to joining Moore Colson, Jake was an Accountant with OneVizion Technologies, Inc. (formerly known as VQS Inc.), Marietta, Georgia. He also worked as a Tax intern with Habif Arogetti and Wynne, Atlanta, Georgia. Jake received a Masters of Accounting from Georgia Southern University in 2013, and also a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting with a Minor in Fraud Examination in 2012.
Jake is a Beta Alpha Psi Member, MAcc Pinning Ceremony Coordinator for Spring 2013, and a member of the Dean’s list at Georgia Southern University. He was also a recipient of the Laura S.Tally Leadership Award, the Dean’s list, and an NCAA Division III Football player at Methodist University.
Hobart Kwon is a new Business Assurance Senior Associate with Moore Colson and a graduate of Georgia State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. Prior to joining Moore Colson, Hobart worked for Ernst & Young, LLP, Atlanta, Georgia. For the past 10 years Hobart has served as a leader for client audits in high-profile industries including commercial and residential real estate, registered investment advisors, not-for-profits, distribution and warehousing, manufacturing, franchisors and government entities. Hobart was also an Audit Supervisor with HLB Gross Collins, P.C., Atlanta, Georgia.
Herbert Monford joins the Firms IT Audit Practice as a Business Assurance Senior Associate. Prior to coming to Moore Colson, Herbert worked as a Senior Level Auditor in several industries including Health Insurance and Banking. Herbert has an extensive background in all stages of audits, including planning, study, evaluation, and testing of controls, reporting and follow-up. Herbert also has extensive experience in the implementation and monitoring of Security Management, Vulnerability Assessments, Organizational IT Architecture, SOX, HIPAA, PCI, and FFIEC regulations and over 6 years’ experience in developing standards and policies for organizational structure.
Herbert is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated, and a graduate of Kentucky State University with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and a Minor in Business. Herbert is currently working on further education at the University of Alabama Birmingham, with a Masters in Forensics and Security Management with an expected graduation date of 2016.
Ngai Ming Yau (Mandy Yau) is a new Tax Associate with Moore Colson. Mandy received a Bachelors of Business Administration in Accounting from The University of Georgia and also a Bachelors of Business Administration from The University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus. Mandy worked as an intern during the summer of 2013 with Dynamic Accounting Service, Hato Rey, Puerto Rico where she debited, credited, and totaled accounts on databases to analyze revenue and expense trends, checked ATH, check and credit card transactions for correct entry and accuracy, and performed bank reconciliation. Mandy was also an IRS Volunteer Income Tax Preparer and assisted over 100 university employees in accurately filing their tax returns. Mandy was a member of the Chinese Undergraduate Student Association, Multicultural Business Student Association, and a volunteer for the Mind Blower Program which provided educational activities for children. Mandy is fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese, and Spanish.
Isaiah Gresham joins Moore Colson’s Business Assurance Practice as an Associate. Isaiah is a graduate of Samford University, Birmingham, Alabama with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Accounting. He plans to obtain a Masters of Accountancy from Samford University in 2014.
In 2013, Isaiah worked as a tax intern with Culotta, Scroggins, Hendricks & Gillespie, Birmingham, Alabama where he prepared annual forms W-2, W-3, 1099, 1096, 96 and a variety of business returns such as partnership, C-corporation, S-corporation, and Alabama privilege tax. He also was responsible for trust and individual income tax returns, and converted business returns from trial balance software and paper-based filing system to engagement software. In 2012, Isaiah served as a tax intern with HealthSouth, Birmingham, Alabama. Isaiah was also a Teaching Assistant and Men’s Basketball Manager while attending Samford University.
Spring Interns:
From Samford University, Frances Boney and Sarah Boehmig are interns in the Business Assurance Practice. Sarah Boehmig returns for a third internship with Moore Colson. From the University of Alabama, Amanda Strength is an intern in the Business Assurance Practice, Matthew Grooss and Natalie Jett are interns in the Tax Practice. Natalie Jett returns for a second internship in the Tax Practice. From Kennesaw State University, Erica Cochran and Eric Stone are both interns in the Tax Practice, and from the University of Georgia, Victoria Xu joins the Tax Practice as an intern.
