Atlanta, Georgia

Moore Colson, an award-winning accounting, consulting and advisory firm in Atlanta, recently announced the addition of Wes Scott, CIRA, as a director in Moore Colson’s Consulting Practice. Scott brings over 18 years of experience serving clients as both a lender and consultant focusing on restructuring and bankruptcy for debtors, lenders and unsecured creditors.

At Moore Colson, Scott’s primary role is leading the practice’s Lender Advisory Services group. In this role, Scott will focus on developing and building both new and existing client relationships through various engagements that assist lenders with strategic decision-making. As a former asset-based lender, Scott has a unique perspective to provide advice to the firm’s banking clients.

Prior to joining Moore Colson, Scott spent six years as a senior portfolio manager at Cadence Business Finance, a division of Cadence Bank, where he managed a $150 million asset-based loan portfolio with a combination of performing, watch-list and workout accounts. In this role, Scott managed the entire loan life-cycle, including structuring, negotiating and closing the initial transaction, preparing modifications, and working out the transaction when necessary. In addition to Cadence Bank, Scott’s banking experience includes two years at GE Capital, where he completed their Risk Management Leadership Program. While at GE, Scott focused on managing a portfolio of senior secured bank loans, underwriting new portfolio additions, and assisting the workout team with troubled loans and mitigating losses with loans in default.

Scott previously served as a director at Hays Financial Consulting, where he analyzed financial operations of distressed businesses to provide recommendations for turnaround strategies and maintained value in underperforming businesses in bankruptcy or receivership. Prior to this position, Scott worked in Deloitte’s Restructuring Services Group for six years, where he progressed from associate to manager. During this time, Scott advised financial institutions on distressed loans and improved working-capital management for banks, unsecured creditors and debtor clients experiencing financial distress. Scott also worked with federal agencies such as the FDIC in analyzing failing financial institutions and the PBGC in maximizing recovery of unfunded pension liabilities for defined benefit pension plans.

Scott earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and International Business from the University of Georgia and a Master of Business Administration from the University of South Carolina. He is a Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor (CIRA) and a member of the Atlanta Chapter of the Secured Finance Network (SFNet), the Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors (AIRA), the Turnaround Management Association (TMA) and the American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI).

“Moore Colson’s long history and stellar reputation of serving clients in the banking industry was a key factor in my decision to join,” noted Scott. “As a former asset-based lender relationship manager, I look forward to providing a unique perspective in our banking engagements. I’m excited to join the firm and support the team’s continued growth.”

“We are excited to have Wes join our team as we continue to grow our capabilities and capacity to serve our clients,” said Chris Tierney, Moore Colson partner and Consulting Practice leader. “Wes’ experience in the banking sector, as well as working with companies experiencing financial and operational distress, adds strength and capabilities to our services focused on these sectors.”
